30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL GOD'S TRUE JUSTICE

As Christians, so many times we see so much injustice and wonder when it all will end.  Romans 12:18-21 says If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. 20 Therefore "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head." 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.  We need to realize that God’s true Justice, will be fully and finally realized only in eternity.

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL WHAT DO YOU PUT IN YOUR MIND

This is Marty McKenzie with His Love Ministries. A mind is a terrible thing to put waste in, I’m talking about trash, garbage.  You wouldn’t go to the garbage dump, and bring it home to put in your refrigerator would you?  Well, that’s what we do every time we let the world’s trash enter our mind.  If you put Garbage in, you get Garbage out. We don’t let them teach us what to believe. Listen to what Phil 4:8 says:  Finally, brethren, whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. So what will you put in your mind today?

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL PHILIPPIANS 4.1 YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUTH

In Philippians 4:1 Paul tells us to stand firm in the Lord. Are you spiritually stable?  Or are you like the double minded man in James 1 and Eph 4:14 who doesn’t know what he believes and is tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine? The Bible tells us in 2Pe 3:18 to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. So how can you stand firm in shaky times.  You need to get your Bible out, read it, study it, memorize it, then you won’t fall prey to Satan’s lies and traps because as John 8:32 says you will Know the truth and the truth will set you free.

In life it is not how much money we have, how big our house is, not how many friends we have, how great our kids are, the number of degrees we possess, and it’s not the job that we have that matters. Likewise, the measure of a man's ministry is not how many people he reaches, how many people attend his church, how big his budget is, oh, and it is not how many buildings he builds either, only the Christ likeness of his people show the effect of his ministry, that is the only measuring stick that matters We measure things, 1 Samuel 16:7 says For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL CAN YOU WALK THE WALK AS WELL AS YOU TALK THE TALK?

2 Timothy 3:2-4 says For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, I think this fits many people today who call themselves Christians, as most of America claims to be, but our walk does not match our talk.  Jesus said if you love me, you will keep my commandments.  If we were really Christians we would live differently, how about you, how do you live?

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL GOD’S MONEY OR OURS? WHOSE MONEY IS IT?

In 1Tim. 5:18, it says 'The laborer is worthy of his wages'".  During economic downturns I believe that God is testing His people to see what they are going to do with His Money.  I know many churches and ministries have suffered a lack of funding and had to cut staff and mission opportunities.  In the U. S. our poorest have more than 90% of the world, so why are we holding on so hard to what God has given us.  I believe our blessing of financial prosperity has become a curse because we care more about what we have than about the people around us. What have you sacrificed lately to help someone else? Has God saved your wallet as well as your life?

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL ARE WE HEARING GOD’S WORD

Mark 12:35-37 says Then Jesus answered and said, "How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David? 36 "For David himself said by the Holy Spirit: 'The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool."'"Therefore David himself calls Him 'Lord'; how is He then his Son?" & the common people heard Him gladly. The Pharisees were asking Jesus questions & now He asks them one. Amazing how He gets to the heart of the matter of their unbelief.  It shows the fact that the COMMON people were willing to hear, but not those in power. Are you one of those who think they don’t need to hear it either?

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL GOD’S WAY OR OUR WAY

Being a disciple of Christ means you are following Him, in other words, You are saved, you are worshiping Him, obeying Him, Learning more about Him, and telling others about Him, so my question is who or what is your God, is it your way or is it Yahweh? Yahweh is the self existent one, the covenant making name of God as it appears when He makes the promise to Abraham that through his Seed (Christ) all the families of the earth will be blessed, in other words they can be saved.  Apparently for most folks it is their way, since the #1 most requested song at funerals is I did it my way.

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL THANKFULNESS TO GOD

In Luke 17:15 one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. 17 So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner? 19 And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well."  How often are we like the others and forget to thank God for ALL the good things He has done for us.  This is a very serious matter. Are you thankful to God and Have you thanked Him today?

Luke 16:15 And Jesus said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God. EVERYWHERE I look I see men and women who are trying to look good to others, but they are either not saved, or they are wasting their life because they want other people to think good of them.  Christ always looked at the heart, not the outside covering that everyone else sees and he was constantly on the Pharisee's about that.  So, in this world of hey look at me, Which one do you pursue God’s approval or mans?

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL TRUST AND OBEY

The Bible is all about Jesus.  It can be summed up in two words, trust and obey.  First you trust Christ as your Savior and then every day for everything from the easy stuff to the hardest.  Secondly you obey Him in every situation, because you love Him and you realize that if He saved you, He will deal with you appropriately in all matters of life in the best possible manner for His glory, to make you a useful vessel that brings Him honor, and becomes like Him if you will only trust and obey, for there is no other way to show your love for Jesus, but to trust and obey. That’s what Hebrews 11 is all about. 3/13/19

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL JESUS SAYS HE WHO HAS EARS TO HEAR, LET HIM HEAR PART 2

In Mark 4 Jesus tells the parable of the seeds.  One group never hears the word of God because they don’t care about it, two groups follow God for a while, but persecution or the cares and riches of the world cause them to fall away because they were never truly saved.  Only one group bears fruit because they are saved.  At the end He says he who has ears to hear, let him hear. This means if we hear, understand & use what He shows us, He will entrust us with more. How sad, many will be horrified when they find out they are in hell because they fell into the first 3 categories in this parable and many Christians will be sadly disappointed when they get to Heaven & see all the BLESSINGS and ways God wanted to use us if we only had ears to hear and used what God gave us.

In Mark 4 Jesus says he who has ears to hear, let him hear. Then He says if we hear, understand & use what He shows us, He will give us more to enjoy and use for Him. How sad, I think many of us will be sadly disappointed when we get to Heaven & see all the things we could have had if we had only used what God gave us, because He says if we do not use what He gives us, we are going to lose it. Lu 12:48  For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more. Will you be one who is disappointed when they get to heaven?

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL THE BIBLE, GOD'S INSTRUCTION MANUAL

John MacArthur says Jesus summed it all up when He said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." The Bible is a marvelous unequaled book.  In fact, somebody should put a warning label on it and maybe it ought to read like this, "Warning: this book is habit forming, regular use causes loss of anxiety, decreased appetite for lying, cheating, lusting, hating and stealing.  Symptoms of reading it causes increased feelings of joy, peace, love and compassion." If the Bible, God’s instruction manual for us is this useful, why aren’t we reading it more?

Philippians 4:15 says Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only. No local church at this time shared their finances with Paul except the Philippians. Other churches could have shared with him but they chose not to. They had the opportunity, they knew of his need but they didn’t care. Some churches care about the lost, others do not. Some churches are evangelistic oriented, others not.  What kind of church are you are part of, do you seek to help the lost or have other things become more important? What missions do you play a part in?

John 5:28-29 tells how the saved will rewarded for their good and those not trusting in Christ will be judged and condemned. Most people don't understand the implications of living for Christ here on earth & how it is going to impact eternity, or else they would live differently. Dan 12:3 says those who teach & lead others to faith will be considered wise & will shine in heaven because of the work they have done for Christ. Mt 13:43 "Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear. What will eternity be like for you?

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL JOHN 1:14 THE WORD BECAME FLESH

The book of John has no birth narrative, no manger scene, no geneology, but John goes straight to the point in the first two verses of John 1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. Then verse 14 says that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.. He wants us to know that Jesus is God in human flesh.  He is not a God as some of the cults say, but He is THE ONE AND ONLY GOD.  Have you trusted Him as your Savior? If not, why not right now?

In John 1:10-13 He tells us the fact that Jesus created everything and He came to earth, but the people He created did not know Him and recognize Him when He came.  Not even His own people, the Jews recognized Him nor many received Him as their Lord and Savior.  What a shame. Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.)  Please listen to the warning of this passage as it tells us working and willing ourselves into Heaven, just cannot be done.

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL JOHN 1:12-13 BUT AS MANY AS RECEIVED HIM

In John 1:12-13 John begins to tell us how even though the people that He created did not know Christ when He came into this world and that His own special people the Jews did not know Him nor receive Him either; that as many as received Him will be saved.  In other words, it is the ones who by faith alone ask God to forgive them on the basis of what Jesus did on the cross will be saved. He tells us how these who ask for forgiveness for their sins will become the children of God and the fact that man cannot be saved by any human effort of good works, mental effort of the will, or birthright, but only by the grace of God.

John 7:14 Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught. 15 And the Jews marveled, saying, "How does this Man know letters, having never studied?" 16 Jesus answered them and said, "My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. 17 "If anyone wants to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
 In this section of Scripture we will learn that Jesus wants us to know who He is (meaning we get saved) and what His will for our life is, but that is contingent on us really being interested in knowing it.  The bible always gives two sides to salvation and our Christian lives; there is the fact that God is Sovereign and He does what He wants to do based on His Holiness, but then there is our part, human responsibility.  God will do everything He can to get us to know Him and do His will, but He will not make us into robots.  We have a choice, we can serve God, or we can serve the Devil.  Joshua 24:15 "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." We can grow and serve God, or we can live as babies in Christ and never experience all that God has for us. 1 Peter 2:2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.  2 Peter 3:18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. Or Stay Babies - Hebrews 5:12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.  It is our choice, what will you choose or what have you chosen to do?
 The great obstacle to recognizing the truth of Christ is not deficient resources but deep rebellion against God. People cannot see and recognize the truth of Christ's teaching because the prevailing tendency of their will is insubordination against the authority of God.

It is almost the Christmas Season again, so lets not forget with all that the world will throw at us in the way of materialism, that Jesus is the reason for the season.  In Acts 20:35 Paul said, "I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak.  And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" This year lets do little less for ourselves and find someone who needs Christ that we can show His love to, that's what this season is really all about.

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL THE LIFE AND THE LIGHT THAT JESUS CHRIST REVEALS TO ALL MEN

In John 1:4-7 we see that Jesus is the source of all life, not only physical, but spiritually also.  John lets us know that this life is the light which stands for the revealing of Christ to men and that "Jesus Christ is " THE WORD, the one who supplies the truth that shows us that the way we live is not right in God’s eyes.  He also tells us the light shines in the darkness and this means that unholy man cannot understand the holiness of God, nor can it defeat Him.  Have you seen the truth of Jesus Christ and trusted Him?  Then why not trust Him today?

JOHN 6:48-59 JESUS SAID TO THEM, I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE PART 2

John 6:48 "I am the bread of life. 49 "Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 "This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. 51 "I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world." 52 The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying, "How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?"53 Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 54 "Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 "For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 56 "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 "As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. 58 "This is the bread which came down from heaven--not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever."59 These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.
 In this second part of the Bread of Life Discourse Jesus is going to drive the final wedge between Himself and the Religious folks.  They aren’t really interested in knowing who He is, so He will make it harder and harder to have anything to do with Him.  Jesus really loves us all, but when we keep on rejecting Him then He finally makes us hard and it’s not that He cannot save us, but that we will not come to Him because our hearts are so hard and bitter.  Have you read the parables?  Jesus begins to use them as a merciful tool, because they will not believe in Him, He makes them less guilty in the judgment as He keeps them from knowing more and thus being held accountable for more.  Luke 12:48 "But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more. (NKJV) The hottest place in hell will be for the person who has sat in church or read the scriptures all their life, yet not trusted in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Paul put it this way in 2 Timothy. 2Ti 3:1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. This was the Pharisees and is the religious people of today, beware that you are not one of them.

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL GENESIS 12 BLESSED BY GOD

In Genesis 12 God said to Abraham, I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."  Just as Abraham was blessed so he could be a blessing to all the earth, the only reason we Christians have been blessed by God is so that we can do the same thing.  Are we living up to our calling as Christians to be a blessing to others or are we being a curse and a hindrance to others coming to Christ?
 

JOHN 6.1-14 JESUS FEEDS THE MULTITUDE

We will see in this section of scripture the great miracle of the loaves and the fish being multiplied to feed a multitude of people.  This is the only miracle that is included in all four Gospels.  It is included because it is a great object lesson to show the people that Jesus can not only feed people with bread and fish, but He is the Bread of Life and He is master over all things.  He first tests Phillip to see what he will do, and then he gets the typical it can’t be done responses from the rest of the disciples, all but one who brings a lad with two loaves and two small fish.  Andrew is always bringing people to Jesus every time we see him in the Gospels.  Jesus feeds them and even has food left over when there may have been as many as 15,000-20,000 people there at the time.  We usually call this the feeding of the Five Thousand, but it says there were that many men plus women and children if you read all four accounts. This is a great miracle by the great God and Savior.
John 6:1 After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. 2 Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased. 3 And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples. 4 Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near. 5 Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?" 6 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do. 7 Philip answered Him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little." 8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him, 9 "There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?" 10 Then Jesus said, "Make the people sit down." Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11 And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, "Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost." 13 Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. 14 Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, "This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world."

Other kids are locked up because they have committed crimes.  We also minister to those locked up at the jail/prison; to those locked up in addictions to drugs, alcohol, depression, and suicidal thoughts; to those locked up in a variety of other things that keep them from becoming who Jesus wants them to be. He came to give us abundant life, joy, and set us free, and these people that we minister to are not free. Our desire is to show them whatever their background, no matter what they have done, to see how much God loves them; We seek to help them receive forgiveness and freedom from their sin in Jesus Christ. 30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL THE BOOK OF JOHN TELLS US THAT JESUS CREATED EVERYTHING

In John 1:3 We see that Jesus created everything.  Have you considered the wonderful ways our world works together, the beauty and order of it all. I remember the food chain the solar system, and the hydrological cycle from school, but it really comes alive when you see the beauty and wonder of it all by looking at it through the lens of the Bible. This verse helps you to see the world through the lens of creation rather than the lie of evolution.  When you see a watch you know someone made it, it is the same with everything in our world and universe, without a creator it would not exist and it amazes me how you could see it all and believe that it HAPPENED by chance. 

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL THE BOOK OF JOHN TELLS US THAT JESUS IS GOD

The Gospel of John was written by the disciple that Jesus loved using seven key signs that show that Jesus is God in human flesh.  John does not give us any genealogy, no birth narrative, no manger scene, he just cuts to the heart of the matter when he introduces the book with the statement that in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God.  And if that is not enough in verse two he repeats it again.  John was written so that we would know that Jesus is God and that we might believe and be saved as it states in Chapter 20:30-31.  Have you trusted in Christ and Him alone for your salvation?

30 SECOND DEVOTIONAL 1 JOHN 2:10 THOSE THAT KNOW CHRIST LOVE OTHER CHRISTIANS PART 2

1 John 2:10 says He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.  This verse tells me that a person gives proof they are saved because they love their brother and that we neither offend nor are we offended by our brother since it says in 1Co 13:7 that love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  It also tells me that because we are walking in the light, in other words, close intimate fellowship with God we can see the places where we might stumble and thus avoid them.  It also allows us to see things from God's perspective, not ours. Is this the pattern of your life?
