Three lessons stand out here
- Because Jesus ‘wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us’, God’s law no longer condemns us (there will be no bailiffs at our door!). Christ has cancelled our debt and the law has no grounds to accuse us. Romans 8 tells us that ‘there is … no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus’ (vv. 1–4ff.).
- Satan is a defeated foe. He is not ‘put out of existence’, for we still wrestle with him even now (Eph. 6:12), but Christians will have the final victory as they are on the winning side.
- It is folly to think that if our good deeds outweigh our bad, we will please God. No, men are saved due to Christ’s victory on the cross and God’s grace in their lives and not because of their own good works (Eph. 2:8). How can God forgive sinners who break his law and still remain just? The cross was the solution, for on it Jesus Christ gave ‘himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God, for a sweet-smelling aroma’ (Eph. 5:2). ‘There is no salvation by balancing the records. There is only salvation by cancelling records’.[i]
Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Have you trusted Him as your Savior? He can Save you if You ask Him based on His death, burial, and resurrection for your sins. Believe in Him for forgiveness of your sins today.
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” -John 8:32
Our mission is to spread the gospel and to go to the least of these with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ; We reach out to those the World has forgotten.
